Right temporal variant frontotemporal dementia

A.Prof Frank Gaillard et al.

Right temporal variant of frontotemporal dementia is a relatively recently described, and less common, subtype of frontotemporal lobar degeneration

Two distinct pathologic subtypes have been identified with differing clinical presentation. One is a tauopathy, which clinically maps to a similar presenation to behavioral variant FTD, whilst the second has TDP-43 pathology and more closely resembles language variant FTD 7

Neurodegenerative diseases

Neurodegenerative diseases are legion and their classification just as protean. A useful approach is to divide them according to underlying pathological process, although even using this schema, there is much overlap and thus resulting confusion.
