Amorphous bilateral suprarenal calcifications are compatible with adrenal calcifications.
Case Discussion
Bilateral adrenal calcification.
The differential for this finding in an adultt is wide and includes:
Hemorrhage
- sepsis: Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome
- blunt abdominal trauma
- adrenal pseudocyst
- coagulopathy
Infection
- tuberculosis
- histoplasmosis
Adrenal tumors
- adrenal metastases: especially melanoma
- adrenal myelolipoma
- adrenal adenoma
- adrenocortical carcinoma
- pheochromocytoma
Others

Addison disease
- uncommon in primary Addison disease; calcification suggests an underlying cause (e.g. infection)
