Cavum septum pellucidum and cavum vergae

A CSF containing space is seen between the frontal horns of the lateral ventricles representing cavum septum pellucidum. It extends posteriorly behind the anterior columns of the fornix.

Right maxillary sinusitis is noted.

Case Discussion

Cavum septum pellucidum (CSP) is a normal variant, it is a midline CSF containing structure separating the two anterior horns of the lateral ventricle.

Cavum vergae (CV) is a posterior extension of the CSP, posterior to the anterior columns of the fornix.
