Chiari II malformation

Presentation

Neurological impairment since birth.

Patient Data

Age: Young adult

MRI brain

MRI of the brain demonstrates a small posterior fossa with low lying tentorial attachment posteriorly. The tectum is beaked and the corpus callosum dysgenetic. Colpocephaly and hydrocephalus are present. Pediatric VP drain has migrated out of the ventricles.

Case Discussion

This patient was born with spina bifida and a myelomeningocele which was repaired in the neonatal period.
