Ischemic bowel disease (gangrenous)

A 65 year old male presented with acute abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 65
Gender: Male

CT abdomen / pelvis

Diffuse bowel wall thickening is seen with hypovascular mesentery, as a likely sequel of closed loop obstruction.


Intra-operative findings

At laparotomy the small bowel was congested and deemed to be unsalvageable. (Acknowledgement - Thanks to surgery team of Yashomati hospitals, Dr. Girish and Dr. Prabhakar for contributing these excellent intra-operative images)
