A selection of anterior and posterior mediastinal masses on CXR, some with further imaging

Remember if the mass is obscuring the aortic arch or either heart border, it is in the anterior mediastinum. If the mass is obscuring the great vessels or hila, the middle mediastinum is involved. If obscuring the aorta or paravertebral stripes, or causing rib splaying, it is in the posterior mediastinum.
